Question: Car radiator?? 2005 hyundai elantra?

Today the engine of my car started smoking and so i had to pull over and get a tow truck to take it to the place i got it. if its not under warranty how much would it cost to get it fixed or replaced. the cop said hes pretty sure thats the probem because it was cracked and had no fluid in it? which also didnt make much sense b.c i thought they would have done that when i got my car checked?...help? no i bought it used and have had it for over a year. got my oil changed at lube works and they also tell you what needs to be done and filled and they will do it but they didnt tell me ANYTHING about the coolant being low and i dno why they wouldnt have seen that when they said it was filled

If you had it less than 30 days most states allow you to return it.it might cost $500 to fix it

If you purchased it new - a cracked radiator should be under warranty unless you installed only water, if it was low, and it froze or if it has been in an accident?

If its not under warranty the cost could be anywhere from 200 - 1200 to get the radiator replaced. This might not be the only problem because if it got too hot it could damaged the engine and would cost a lot more. The dealer should have checked it when they serviced the car but they will probably say that you hit something in the road and damaged the radiator causing it to leak out all of the coolant.
